Our patient Robin recently posted to Facebook about the amazing difference in her sleep after only 3 nights wearing her appliance. Here is her story (reposted with permission from Robin):
“Long post but worth the read!!!
If you have sleep apnea or snore at night or know anyone that does, then you need to read this. Earlier this year I was diagnosed with sleep apnea. It’s been going on for several years, just haven’t really thought it was that serious until I had surgery last summer. I will never forget that day. The pre-op nurse that I had scared the crap out of me that day. She explained the seriousness and the dangers of sleep apnea and what did does to your heart and body. Since that day I have been educating myself on sleep apnea and ways to help. Everything I read spoke about needing a CPAP machine. The more I read the more I DID NOT want to have to wear a mask.
One day I was at my dentist getting my teeth cleaned and my dentist mentioned to me that they were changing their name to Whole Tree Dentistry. They wanted to help their patients with more then just cleaning their teeth, they wanted to help with the whole body health. Dr. Strickland spoke to me about a non-invasive, nonsurgical treatment option that helps with mild to moderate sleep apnea, snoring, and sleep-disordered breathing.
After that visit, I knew what I wanted to do. So, after many months (no help from COVID) working with my dentist and her amazing team. I was fitted with my very own sleep apnea device (see pictures).
I’m sharing this with everyone who has sleep apnea or problems with snoring and who’s tired of wearing that bulky CPAP machine every night. The sleep apnea mouth guard WORKS!!! I’ve been wearing my mouth guard for 3 nights, yes just 3 nights and I can already tell a huge difference in my sleep and how I feel when I wake up in the mornings.
I have been recording my sleep patterns for almost a year with a snore app, called SnoreLab. It records you while you sleep and it will let you listen to yourself and will score you on how you snored that night. The highest score I got was a 133 (higher the score the more you snored) which is not a good thing. I’ve been recording myself the past 3 nights and last night I scored a 1. Yes a ONE! You can’t imagine how this makes me feel. Absolutely the best thing I’ve done for myself in a long time.
I wanted to thank my dentist Lisa Alexander Strickland and my all time favorite dental hygienist Aaron-Kenny Tidwell for everything you and your team have done for me. Worth every penny!”
